Job summary

HarperCollins Publishers in New Jersey is seeking a full-time Designer to work on fiction and non-fiction interior book design from manuscript to bound book, including offsets and paperback conversions. You will collaborate with editors, production teams, and the Design Manager to deliver high-quality layouts.

The role requires at least 2 years of interior design experience, strong proficiency with Adobe InDesign on a Mac, plus knowledge of Photoshop or Illustrator.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of book interior design experience (preferred).
• Collaborative demeanor and a team player.
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign on a Mac.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe Illustrator a plus.
• Project management skills: detail-oriented, well-organized with an ability to handle multiple projects at various stages.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs mostly 1-color book interiors with potential for 2-color and 4-color interiors.
• Prepares and routes design samples for approval.
• Creates tight InDesign templates for composition group workflow.
