Placements24 seeks a Senior Automotive Body Electronics Engineer to lead the design and integration of body electronic control units for advanced vehicles in East London. You will define hardware and software requirements, and ensure seamless ECU integration with CAN/LIN networks on prototype vehicles and test benches.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in automotive electronics, strong embedded skills, and familiarity with functional safety and cybersecurity considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive electronics, with a significant focus on body electronics systems.
• Proven experience in designing and developing automotive ECUs, preferably for body applications.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and vehicle communication networks (CAN, LIN).
• Experience with hardware debugging tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive body electronic control units (ECUs) and associated software.
• Define hardware and software requirements for body electronics systems, ensuring alignment with vehicle-level specifications.
• Oversee the integration of body electronics ECUs with other vehicle networks and systems (e.g., CAN, LIN, FlexRay).
• Perform system integration testing and validation of body electronic functions on vehicle prototypes and test benches.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues related to body electronics.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, interior designers, and software developers to ensure optimal system performance and user experience.
• Manage component selection, supplier communication, and qualification for body electronics components.
• Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and best practices, including functional safety and cybersecurity requirements.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in automotive body electronics.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
