Job description

The Embedded Software Integration Engineer will support the evolution and integration of body control software and embedded systems across automotive, firmware, and safety-critical platforms. The role requires strong C/C++ and Python development experience, hardware and software integration expertise, system-level troubleshooting, and an understanding of vehicle networking and functional safety. The engineer will translate system requirements into software specifications, validation strategies, and scalable integration solutions while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams. Candidates must be able to design and visually construct a state machine diagram based on a provided scenario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the evolution of body control software architecture and define hardware/software interfaces.
  • Lead early-stage hardware and software integration and validate system performance against defined requirements.
  • Translate high-level vehicle objectives into precise software specifications for body control systems.
  • Analyze field data to identify opportunities to refine and optimize body control system performance.
  • Collaborate with validation teams to develop comprehensive test strategies for body control functionality.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware/software integration issues throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assess the impact of design modifications across hardware and software components.
  • Support functional safety activities including DFMEA and HARA analyses for body control systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams across electrical, software, manufacturing, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Facilitate understanding of system interdependencies to support seamless integration across vehicle domains.
  • Translate complex system requirements into scalable testing, validation, and observability solutions.
  • Support embedded system troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, system performance validation, and OTA software releases.
  • Design and draw state machine diagrams based on provided system scenarios.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of embedded software and systems engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with C/C++ development.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting complex networked embedded systems.
  • Experience with hardware and software development lifecycles.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and mechatronic systems.
  • Experience with CAN and/or LIN communication protocols and associated tools.
  • Experience with ECU/ECM architectures and vehicle networking.
  • Experience with embedded diagnostics and interfaces such as UART, SPI, and I2C.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, HARA, and fault tree analysis methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across hardware and software domains.
  • Ability to interpret technical and field data for system optimization.
  • Proven ability to collaborate on complex engineering projects.
  • Ability to design and visually construct state machine diagrams based on technical scenarios.
  • Experience with safety-critical embedded systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with medical device software or other safety-critical embedded systems.
  • Experience with QNX and Android vehicle platforms.
  • Experience with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and ASIL-D.
  • Experience with a broad range of body control systems, including doors, trunk, frunk, windows, seating, lighting, mirrors, wipers, heaters, steering wheel controls, actuators, and sensors.
  • Experience working with vehicle software organizations and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting body control system functionality and performance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Experience with electric vehicle systems and architectures.
