Job summary

Waymo seeks a Systems Engineer in Mountain View for a senior Body Controls and embedded systems role. This full-time position follows a hybrid schedule, reporting to a Systems Engineering Manager.

You will define OEM requirements and architecture, develop embedded software/hardware specs for body control functions, lead core feature development, execute V&V, coordinate with software teams, and manage fleet delivery for prototype vehicles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or similar.
• 3+ years in automotive Body Controls and software roles.
• Knowledge of CAN, FlexRay, LIN, Ethernet networks.
• Experience with body control systems (doors, lighting, windows, seats).
• Ability to draft architectures and requirements for vehicle systems.
• Rigorous, detail-oriented mindset with issue reproduction focus.

Responsibilities

• Define OEM requirements & architecture for vehicle body control systems.
• Develop embedded software/hardware specifications for body control functions.
• Lead core feature development from target-setting to verification.
• Create V&V plans, run tests, analyze data, and troubleshoot defects.
• Collaborate with embedded software teams on implementation and docs.
• Manage delivery timing of feature sets and software updates to prototype fleet.
