Job summary

Olsson is seeking a Controls Design Engineer - BMS to join a growing team of Electrical and Control System Engineers, with responsibilities spanning data center instrumentation and control systems from concept to site design and retrofits.

You will coordinate with disciplines, manage BMS design tasks, and travel to project sites as needed. A PE license and 6+ years in BMS design are preferred.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience designing BMS or control systems.
• Strong communication skills to lead technical discussions.
• Ability to independently resolve complex problems within the engineering discipline.
• Support staff education, mentoring, and professional development.
• Participation in proposal development, including RFP content and pricing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the selection and specification of process instrumentation, PLCs and HMI or DDC equipment.
• Develop and approve BMS sequences of operations.
• Manage BMS design tasks including scope, schedule, and quality.
• Review submittals, perform field inspections, and verify design intent.
• Act as technical lead and provide supervision to the design team.
• Travel to project sites as needed (roughly 15-35%).
