Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Blockchain Networks team within the Platform group. You will build infrastructure that abstracts blockchain complexity into reliable APIs and drive cross-chain operations across assets like Ethereum and Bitcoin.

You will own multi-quarter initiatives, define APIs and observability, and partner with product teams to ship SDKs that promote adoption, all while maintaining on-call responsibilities and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production services in a service-oriented architecture.
• Experience designing, scaling, and maintaining distributed systems with high throughput and low latency.
• Hands-on with at least two of: Golang, Kafka, Redis, MongoDB or similar infra.
• Direct experience with blockchain protocols or crypto infrastructure (e.g., Ethereum, Bitcoin, L1/L2).
• Ability to decompose monoliths into well-bounded microservices with clear API contracts.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of blockchain network infrastructure that abstracts complexity into reliable platform APIs.
• Lead multi-quarter initiatives including new chain integrations and data migrations to improve latency, reliability, and cost.
• Define and maintain APIs, SLOs, and observability, including on-call ownership.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to establish data contracts and ship SDKs that drive adoption.
• Build deep technical context across top blockchain protocols and simplify cross-chain operations.
