Job summary

Alchemy is seeking a creator of reliable blockchain infrastructure who can turn uncertain problems into production-ready software. You will work with engineers, product teams, and customers to test ideas, define experiments, and push robust prototypes into production.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to take ambiguous engineering problems to working prototypes.
• Experience reading protocol specs and implementation code.
• Strong knowledge of backend or distributed systems.
• Ability to design reproducible performance benchmarks and identify bottlenecks.
• Careful reasoning about correctness and security, especially with safeguards for funds or chain state.

Responsibilities

• Identify developer or infrastructure problems that justify a new blockchain capability or product, coordinating with engineering, Product, and customer-facing teams.
• Define each experiment’s hypothesis, success criteria, constraints, and time limit before building.
• Prototype across layers: blockchain clients, RPC, indexing, transaction infrastructure, backend services, or smart contracts.
• Read specifications and code, then test assumptions with reproducible benchmarks and failure cases.
• Evaluate developer value, technical feasibility, security, cost, and maintenance effort.
• Take validated ideas through production design, testing, rollout, observability, and documentation with partner teams.
• Write concise recommendations to continue, redirect, or stop, with evidence from results.
• Participate in production support and incident response; own monitoring and runbooks.
