Job summary

Alchemy is seeking a results-oriented engineer to transform new blockchain infrastructure ideas into working systems. You will select tests, build the smallest viable experiments, and scale successful results to production.

You enjoy reading protocol specs, analyzing unfamiliar code, and collaborating with developers to validate ideas. You will prototype across clients, RPC, indexing, and backend services, evaluating performance, security, and cost.

Qualifications

• Proven track record taking ambiguous engineering problems to prototypes and production.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of at least one blockchain and its lifecycle.
• Strong software engineering skills for backend or distributed systems.
• Ability to read unfamiliar code/specifications and design testable experiments.

Responsibilities

• Identify problems that justify a new blockchain capability or product with cross-functional teams.
• Define hypotheses, success criteria, constraints, and time limits for experiments.
• Prototype across blockchain clients, RPC, indexing, transaction infrastructure, or smart contracts.
• Read protocol specs and implementation code; test assumptions with benchmarks and failure cases.
• Evaluate value, feasibility, security, operating cost, and support effort.
• Take validated ideas through production design, testing, rollout, observability, and docs.
• Write concise recommendations to continue/redirect/stop based on results.
• Participate in production support and incident response; own monitoring and runbooks.
