Job summary

Alchemy in San Francisco is seeking engineers to build and operate data systems that turn blockchain activity into reliable, fast data for developers. You’ll own backend projects from ingestion to serving, ensuring data correctness, freshness, and cost efficiency, and work with product and customer teams to meet developer needs.

You will implement ingestion, indexing, storage, and API-serving systems, handle data restructuring, and improve query performance.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to design, ship and operate production backend or distributed data systems.
• Strong programming skills in a production backend language, and experience with databases, indexing, and query performance.
• Experience with consistency, partitioning, asynchronous processing, and failure recovery.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate blockchain ingestion, indexing, storage, and API-serving systems.
• Handle reorganizations, retries, duplicate events, and backfills without data loss or corruption.
• Improve query performance and data freshness, making observability clear to the team and customers.
• Extend API capabilities with tests for chain behavior and data semantics.
• Develop streaming and event-delivery capabilities with ordering, replay, and recovery guarantees.
• Reduce data storage and processing costs via architecture and query execution improvements.
• Participate in production support and incident response with monitoring and runbooks.
