Job summary

State Street Corporation seeks an Assistant Vice President, Business Information Security Officer (BISO) to provide cyber risk management oversight across business units and legal entities. The AVP-BISO embeds security within business risk frameworks and chairs cross‑functional risk discussions.

The role requires leadership of cyber risk assessments, governance, and stakeholder engagement to strengthen cyber resilience and incident response readiness at a major financial services firm in Boston.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent work-aligned experience.
• CISSP or CISM strongly preferred and recognized certifications valued.
• Eight or more years of progressive cybersecurity and risk leadership, including governance, risk and compliance.
• Ability to influence executives and translate technical risk into business language across audit, regulatory and third-party risk domains.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior business and technology leaders to enable informed decision-making and risk-based trade-offs.
• Oversee and actively manage risks in line with risk appetite; escalate open risk items.
• Identify information assets and determine protection needs for lines of business and entities.
• Perform cyber risk assessments at application, platform and system levels and recommend protections.
• Represent the GCS function on business control and risk committees; deliver executive briefings.
• Report changes in information security risk to management on a periodic and event-driven basis.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

CISSP or CISM strongly preferred

CRISC, CISA, SSCP, CCSP, CEH, GIAC certifications valued

Eight+ years cybersecurity and risk leadership
