Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Biomed Engineering Tech III to perform preventive maintenance and repair of clinical equipment across the hospital. Read schematics, troubleshoot devices, and ensure regulatory and department standards are met.

Responsibilities include on-call coverage, documenting work, coordinating with vendors and customers, and participating in equipment installation, setup, and disposition under the Medical Equipment Management Plan.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus two-year vocational/technical program or AA degree in a related field.
• 3+ years inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing medical equipment.
• Experience with physiologic monitors, infusion pumps, ECGs, patient monitoring devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repair medical equipment and troubleshoot complex electronic/electromechanical devices to subassembly level.
• Provide on-call coverage to ensure 24-hour emergency hospital operations.
• Prepare purchase orders and track parts delivery and installation.
• Maintain clear communication with requestors and document work progress and status.
• Represent engineering staff professionally and assist in team and process improvements.
• Assist with installation, setup, and disposition of equipment as part of the Medical Equipment Management Plan.
