Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Biomedical Engineering Technician III to perform preventive maintenance and inspections on medical equipment across the department. You will read schematics, repair devices, troubleshoot complex systems, and document work while coordinating with customers and vendors.

You’ll participate in equipment selection, installation, setup, and disposition, contribute to the Medical Equipment Management Plan, and lead projects with independence

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED plus completion of a two year vocational/technical program or AA degree equivalent in related field.
• 3+ years inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of medical equipment.
• Ability to read, understand and follow manufacturer schematics; strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Repair Medical Equipment across the department.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and electromechanical biomedical equipment to subassembly level.
• Provide on-call coverage to ensure 24-hour emergency support for the hospital.
• Prepare purchase orders and coordinate parts procurement and delivery.
• Communicate with the requester about status and ETA; maintain professional interactions with staff and vendors.
• Assist team members and help improve processes; support internal engineering emergency response.
