Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a BMET III to provide technical and on-call support for analysis, maintenance, calibration and installation of medical equipment across modalities. You will manage records of maintenance and safety testing, and support imaging and ultrasound systems with minimal supervision.

The role requires strong technical skills, regulatory knowledge and excellent communication to ensure patient safety and service quality. On-call rotations and project support are included.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Biomedical Technology (BMET), Electronics Engineering or related field OR successful completion of Military BMET training
• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electronics Engineering preferred
• Five years of experience in maintaining electronics or electromechanical equipment, or four years maintaining medical equipment

Responsibilities

• Provides on-call support after normal working hours on a rotational basis.
• Maintains records and database of scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance and safety testing.
• Provides first call technical support for x-ray and imaging systems and first call/scheduled maintenance for ultrasound systems.
• Ensures equipment calibration and installation per manufacturer guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians and staff to ensure safety and service quality.
• Participates in special projects and installations under guidance of Clinical Engineer or management.
