Job summary

Blue Water Thinking seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician Level III to maintain and secure medical devices at the VA Seattle facility. The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, cybersecurity collaboration, and Cerner EHR integration.

Qualified candidates will have a two-year degree, 5+ years hospital experience, and the ability to obtain a federal public trust clearance. Salary ranges from $65,000 to $80,000 with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair service on various medical equipment.
• Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements and ISO standards.
• Familiarity with test equipment setup and usage.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
• Level III experience — minimum of five years hospital/healthcare equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on diverse medical equipment to ensure functionality and lifespan.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines.
• Carry out incoming inspections of new equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams on medical device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, and configure equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Conduct electrical safety inspections and address hazards.
• Monitor hazard recalls and coordinate with vendors for resolutions.
• Maintain CMMS records of maintenance and repairs.
• Provide technical training to medical staff on equipment operation.
