Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated seeks a strategic Biomarkers Senior Research Lab Scientist to develop and optimize biomarker assays for clinical trials. You will design and execute experiments in our lab to identify biomarkers in human biofluids and tissues, bringing strong assay development and validation expertise for fast-paced programs.

Work closely with Research, Quality, and Biomarker Leads to align ongoing biomarker research activities and support cross-functional teams across

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent with 2–5 years post-doc experience, or
• Master's with 5+ years, or
• Bachelor's with 8+ years relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience developing ligand binding assays for translational or clinical applications
• Experience validating assays under GLP/GCP environments
• Strong lab experience in molecular and cell biology
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Strong independence and ability to work with minimal guidance

Responsibilities

• Design and execute method development for biomarker assays in clinical trials
• Evaluate assays in relevant matrices including biofluids and tissues
• Troubleshoot challenges in assay development and validation
• Support reagent generation across assay types
• Collaborate to evaluate CROs and transfer assays
• Generate and analyze data, present results to stakeholders
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams on biomarker goals
