  • Review permit applications and reports for quality and compliance.
  • Develop scopes of work, budgets, and proposals.
  • Create and manage project schedules and deliverables.
  • Attend and facilitate client, project, and regulatory meetings.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to support permitting and compliance.
  • Assist clients with permit compliance and environmental requirements.
  • Conduct or oversee field surveys, habitat assessments, and related investigations.
  • Mentor Assistant, Associate, and Staff Biologists.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet objectives.

Job description

ECORP Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Biologistto lead and support biological resources projects in a collaborative environmental consulting environment.

This senior-level position manages complex projects, supports regulatory compliance and permitting efforts, maintains client and agency relationships, and provides technical guidance to staff. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to successfully execute projects and deliver high-quality environmental consulting services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage or oversee moderately complex, multidisciplinary biological resources projects while balancing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Prepare permit applications, regulatory documentation, and supporting technical materials
  • Review permit applications, technical reports, and other project documents for quality and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare project scopes of work, cost estimates, budgets, and proposals
  • Develop and manage project schedules and deliverables
  • Attend and facilitate project, client, and regulatory agency meetings
  • Coordinate directly with regulatory agency staff to support permitting and compliance efforts
  • Assist clients with permit compliance, environmental requirements, and project implementation
  • Conduct or manage biological field surveys, habitat assessments, and other field investigations, as needed
  • Support and mentor Assistant, Associate, and Staff-level Biologists
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives and client needs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Botany, Ecology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, including project and task management
  • Extensive knowledge of biological resources, including sensitive and common species
  • Strong knowledge of California habitats, species, and general conservation biology and ecology
  • Demonstrated experience with environmental permitting and regulatory agency coordination
  • Working knowledge of applicable environmental regulations, including Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401, the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, California Fish and Game Code Section 1602, California Endangered Species Act Section 2081, and federal Endangered Species Act Sections 7 and 10
  • Experience conducting or managing wetland delineations and/or local flora and fauna surveys
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • USFWS and/or CDFW permits or Memoranda of Understanding are a plus
  • Graduate degree in Biology, Botany, Ecology, or a related field is preferred

Compensation:

This is a full-time salaried position with a base annual salary range of $91,000 to $130,000.

Starting compensation is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.
