Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in biological field surveys and project support.
  • Knowledge of California habitats and conservation biology.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites, including long-distance travel and overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct biological field studies, maintain field notes, and complete documentation related to biological investigations.
  • Lead survey teams and independently conduct field surveys while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Navigate using aerial photographs and electronic topographic maps and accurately complete field data collection.
  • Prepare biological survey reports, wetland delineation reports, mitigation monitoring reports, and other technical documents.
  • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies and participate in project meetings.
  • Manage small to moderately complex projects with limited supervision.
  • Serve as a Field Lead and assist with staff workload coordination or lead field crews.
  • Mentor Assistant, Associate, and other Staff Biologists.
  • Assist Senior Biologists, Group Managers, and Technical Directors with proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and other business development activities.
  • Support Senior Biologists, Group Managers, and Team Leaders with additional project and departmental responsibilities.

Job description

ECORP Consulting, Inc. is seeking Staff Biologists to join our Biological Resources Department in our Rocklin, California office.

This mid-level position offers the opportunity to conduct complex biological field surveys, prepare technical reports, manage small to moderately complex projects, maintain client relationships, support business development efforts, and mentor junior staff.

ECORP’s mission is to consistently deliver high-quality environmental consulting services through outstanding science and timely, creative solutions for our clients, while providing an excellent work environment for our staff. Our Biological Resources Department includes more than 75 biologists and project managers who work collaboratively to support regulatory compliance under the Clean Water Act, California and Federal Endangered Species Acts, California Environmental Quality Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.

Responsibilities include:
  • Independently conduct biological field studies, maintain field notes, and complete documentation related to biological investigations
  • Lead survey teams and independently conduct field surveys while maintaining safe work practices
  • Navigate using aerial photographs and electronic topographic maps and accurately complete field data collection

  • Perform initial document review and quality assurance and quality control, as appropriate.
  • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies and participate in project meetings.
  • Manage small to moderately complex projects with limited supervision
  • Serve as a Field Lead and assist with staff workload coordination or lead field crews
  • Mentor Assistant, Associate, and other Staff Biologists
  • Assist Senior Biologists, Group Managers, and Technical Directors with proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and other business development activities
  • Support Senior Biologists, Group Managers, and Team Leaders with additional project and departmental responsibilities
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Botany, Ecology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, including project support and task management
  • Knowledge of California habitats, species, and general conservation biology and ecology
  • Strong organizational, time management, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites, including long-distance travel and occasional overnight stays
Compensation:

This position offers an hourly pay range of $34.00 to $43.00 per hour, annualized at approximately $70,700 to $89,400 per year for a full-time schedule.

Starting salary is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications/permits, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.
