Job summary

WSP is seeking a full-time Biologist to join the Earth and Environment Sector – North Mountain Environmental Impact Assessment and Permitting group, working across the North Mountain region. The role focuses on conducting avian, wildlife, vegetation, wetland, and sensitive-species surveys, with opportunities to contribute to NEPA analyses and permitting, while collaborating with a regional team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
• 5+ years of consulting experience, ideally with linear corridor projects such as pipelines or electric transmission.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with USFWS, BLM, USFS, and state survey requirements.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Substantial biological field survey knowledge.
• Ability to work in remote conditions and independently or as part of a survey team.

Responsibilities

• Support and help build the environmental project team working on transmission lines, fire hardening, renewable energy, pipelines, transportation projects, NEPA analyses, and permitting services.
• Conduct biological field surveys across the North Mountain Region, including Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Oregon, covering rare plants and threatened wildlife species.
• Assist with wetland and biological surveys, permitting, and documentation.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies while performing fieldwork.
