Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Bioinformatics and Data Science Team focused on regulated diagnostics. You will design, develop, and optimize genomic assays, lead analytics, and drive robust production workflows using AWS.

The role requires a PhD or MS in a related field, 6–7+ years in bioinformatics, strong Python and ML skills, and a track record of delivering regulatory-grade analyses with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS in bioinformatics, computational biology, or adjacent data science field.
• 6-7+ years of experience in bioinformatics analysis, algorithm development, and pipeline implementation.
• Thorough understanding of NGS technologies and library preparation methods.
• Proficiency in quantitative transcriptomics from NGS data in human disease/biology.
• Proficiency in machine learning and development of novel bioinformatics methodologies.
• Experience deploying bioinformatics workflows in AWS (EC2, S3, Step Functions, Batch, Lambda).
• Strong proficiency in Python with testing frameworks and SDLC practices.
• Collaboration with Quality and Regulatory Affairs on assay development and verification.
• Demonstrated leadership, ownership, and independent work.

Responsibilities

• Lead bioinformatics design, development and validation efforts for new and on-market products.
• Apply bioinformatics, genomics, and assay technologies to achieve development objectives.
• Drive study design and analysis for assay development with cross-functional teams.
• Develop statistical and ML techniques to evaluate assay performance and optimize processes.
• Communicate analysis results and methodologies to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop scalable, production-grade workflows for high-throughput NGS data on AWS.
• Work with infrastructure and engineering teams to deploy production pipelines.
• Ensure regulatory compliance throughout development lifecycle and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
