Job summary

Genentech seeks a Bioinformatics Software Engineer to advance reproducible, scalable analyses of proteomics and genomics data for target and biomarker discovery. Qualifications

• PhD in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or similar with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Alternatively, a Masters or equivalent with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experienced in analyzing complex biological datasets using modern data science frameworks.
• Expert knowledge of proteomics analysis and rapid diagnosis of unexpected results.
• Experience delivering software projects through full development cycle with AI/ML integration.
• Familiarity with MCPs, REST APIs and other data science interfaces.
• Experience managing FAIR data and data lineage to improve data discovery.
• Ability to break large problems into reusable components.
• Comfortable working independently and in teams with multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Establish new and maintain workflows, libraries, and visualizations for proteomics and genomics data QC.
• Evaluate, refine, and productionize analytical workflows for biology interrogation and drug pipeline decisions.
• Foster data reuse, multi-modal analyses, and AI/ML via standardized data formats and repositories.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop scientific workflows and tools for machine- and human-accessible data.
