Job summary

MSD is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist for the Bioanalytical Laboratory in Gaithersburg, MD. The role leads daily lab operations, guides the team, and oversees transfer, qualification, and validation of assays and platforms in a regulated setting.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s in biology (Master’s preferred) and 6+ years in biological testing or assay development, with experience in immunoassays and GLP/GCLP. Strong data handling and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years hands-on experience in biological sample testing or reagent/assay development in an industrial setting preferred.
• Experience with running immunoassays/ligand-binding assays preferred.
• Experience with running assays on the MSD platform preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise or independently execute studies in the Bioanalytical Laboratory per SOPs.
• Assist team with procuring reagents and materials.
• Review documentation: data capture, forms, logbooks, batch records.
• Interpret results and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Verify data accuracy and validity; correct errors.
• Document deviations from protocol appropriately.
• Mentor and document performance evaluations.
