Job summary

HDR invites a BIM Section Manager to lead design projects with independent execution and supervision of BIM staff. You will drive digital design, model management, and cross‑discipline coordination, aligning with project engineers and managers.

You will mentor staff, ensure quality control, and coordinate with clients and contractors while delivering distinctive design features and efficient BIM workflows. This role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and proactive project management.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least 5 years in digital design (BIM authoring) and 5 years in digital delivery (model management).
• Strong understanding of building systems and discipline relationships.
• Advanced 3D design software skills and document management.
• Proficient with 3D coordination tools and MS Office.
• Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and specs.
• Familiar with automation; capable of using design software add-ins.
• Excellent client service, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Create designs independently under broad direction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
• Direct preparation of drawings by other BIM Technicians or supervise BIM staff.
• Complete projects with distinctive design features beyond precedents.
• Collaborate with clients or contractor representatives as needed.
• Oversee operations within the BIM section including staff development and quality control.
• Manage production on projects alongside leadership responsibilities.
• Lead administrative staff functions and coordinate services with other sections.
• Ensure planning, organization, and proactive project management across work.
• Support company policy and train personnel as needed.
• Develop and manage technical staff and processes.
