Job summary

HDR is seeking a BIM Section Manager in the United States with extensive experience in digital design and delivery. You will lead a BIM team, author designs, and coordinate with project engineers and clients to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

This role emphasizes leadership, 3D coordination, standards compliance, and proactive project management across disciplines, reflecting HDR’s employee‑ownership culture and service‑line collaboration.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or combination of education and relevant experience.
• 5+ years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 5+ years digital delivery (model management).
• Understanding of building systems and discipline relations.
• Strong 3D design software, document management, and 3D coordination skills.
• Excel and communication tools proficiency; client service and leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Create designs independently under broad direction from Project Engineer/PM.
• Direct preparation of drawings by BIM Technicians and supervise BIM staff.
• Complete projects with distinctive design features beyond precedents.
• Collaborate with clients or contractor representatives as needed.
• Oversee BIM section operations: staff development, morale, and quality control.
• Balance production work with management responsibilities.
• Lead staff and coordinate services with other sections.
• Ensure proactive project management planning, organization and evaluation.
• Implement and support company policy and training needs.
• Train, develop and manage technical personnel.
