The Senior Billing Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership and overall management of the Billing Department across all office locations. This role requires a visionary leader who can handle complex billing issues with broad conceptual judgment and initiative, while driving the department towards achieving organizational goals with minimal direction. Essential job functions include:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the Billing Department to align with the firm's overall objectives.
- Lead initiatives to improve billing processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure the department is leveraging the latest technology and best practices.
- Identify and address areas for improvement within the billing function to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with all firm leadership to enhance efficiency, client experience, and improve firm revenue cycle operations.
- Management and Coordination:
- Audit the work of the billing function to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Supervise and mentor Billing Managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
- Assist with the coordination of workflow within the billing department to ensure timely and accurate billing processes.
- Collaborate with Receivables team to manage and report on inventory for the firm.
- Complex Billing Issues:
- Lead projects that require broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and the ability to address and resolve complex billing issues.
- Serve as the point of escalation for complex billing inquiries and disputes, providing expert guidance and resolution.
- Billing Process Administration:
- Assist with the administration of the billing process, including month-end closing procedure.
- Ensure the timely and accurate distribution of proformas and accompanying reports.
- Supervise the review and processing of proformas returned from attorneys into the accounting system.
- Reporting and Data Management:
- Review various reports to administer deadlines and maintain data integrity, requiring continuous follow-up.
- Provide assistance with building and maintaining billing templates to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO or Director of Revenue Cycle Operations.
Positions Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; or a combination of education and equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 7 years of management experience in a related field, with a focus on billing and financial management.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and managing high-performing teams.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of accounting principles in a service organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Experience with Elite 3E or other billing software preferred.

Compensation And Benefits
Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience.
The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:
- State of California: $111,000 - $211,000
- State of Colorado: $102,000 - $182,000
- State of Illinois: $100,000 - $194,000
- State of Massachusetts: $111,000 - $211,000
- State of Maryland: $107,000 - $163,000
- State of Minnesota: $111,000 - $183,000
- Jersey City, NJ: $120,000 - $218,000
- State of New York: $103,000 - $223,000
- State of Washington: $107,000 - $204,000
- Washington, D.C.: $143,000 - $210,000
The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
