Job summary

Coldspring is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to make company data usable across the organization. You will own the gold data layer, dbt transformations, and certified sources, partnering with cross-functional BI teams to deliver trusted KPIs and dashboards.

The role emphasizes data modeling, testing, and data quality within a growing data warehouse. You will collaborate closely with business users and the BI team to translate questions into data requirements, while guiding standards,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree or relevant experience may be considered.
• 5+ years in BI, analytics engineering, or data engineering with advanced SQL and dbt ownership.
• Experience with BI visualization tools (Tableau/Power BI) and data sources.
• Ability to explain technical data concepts to non-technical users.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and maintain the dbt environment for transforming Coldspring data.
• Build and maintain dbt models from bronze to gold with data quality tests.
• Translate business questions into data requirements and deliver answers at required levels.
• Design and build the gold layer with conformed datasets across domains.
• Establish naming, testing, documentation, and version control standards for transformation code.
• Publish and certify data sources with owners, refresh schedules, and data dictionaries.
• Own certification standards and lifecycle for data sources.
• Centralize calculations and metrics in the data layer; avoid per-report logic.
• Develop KPIs, dashboards, and recurring reports for teams without in-house capabilities.
• Identify data quality gaps and coordinate with source system owners to resolve them.
• Contribute to ongoing data warehouse development alongside the BI team.
