Job summary

Boston Beer Corporation is seeking a Senior BI Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize enterprise-scale data solutions powering analytics and business decisions. You will work hands-on with Databricks, Azure data services, and modern data engineering practices to deliver scalable data products and drive platform modernization.

The role requires leadership in design and delivery, collaboration with stakeholders, and mentoring engineers, with a salary range disclosed and a discretionary bonus

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• 3+ years of hands-on Databricks development in production.
• Strong Databricks Lakehouse, Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and distributed data processing expertise.
• Experience with Azure data services (ADF, Data Lake, Key Vault).
• Advanced SQL and Python for ETL/ELT pipelines and data models.
• Experience with modern DevOps and data engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, monitoring).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support scalable Databricks Lakehouse data pipelines.
• Lead technical design for cross-system data initiatives across functions.
• Diagnose production issues and improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Develop reusable data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, testing, monitoring, data quality, and production support frameworks.
• Administer Databricks workspace, Unity Catalog, permissions, and governance.
• Design production workflows with scheduling, dependencies, monitoring, and alerting.
• Implement CI/CD with Azure DevOps and Databricks Asset Bundles.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver data solutions.
• Optimize pipelines for performance and cost; modernize legacy SQL Server systems.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
• Occasional travel to support objectives.
