Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a principal expert to design and implement current and future data warehouse, BI, and data migration strategies. You will lead architectural design of data warehouses, data marts, and reporting solutions to support students, teachers, and schools.

Qualifications

Ten years of experience in analytical or technological industries; fifteen years of technical experience preferred; management skills a plus.
BS Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related major; Master's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related major; equivalent experience considered.
Strong knowledge of BI / Data Warehouse development processes and best practices.
Ability to lead BI team and mentor staff; experience with data governance and data quality.
Experience with data warehouses, data migrations, data marts, and reporting solutions.

Responsibilities

Act as principal expert in developing and implementing BI and data warehouse requirements using SQL, ETL, BI tools, and reporting tools.
Lead full life-cycle development and maintenance of data warehouse, ETL, and BI solutions.
Provide leadership to technical staff and recommend BI reporting packages.
Collaborate with customers to identify and scope business opportunities and design against district architecture.
Document business requirements, verify solutions, and design reporting formats and data delivery methods.
Monitor data quality and address root causes with cross-functional teams.
Develop new capabilities and architectures for client portal and ad-hoc BI capabilities.
Lead and mentor BI team, and ensure SDLC standards for data warehouse development.
