Job summary

Fluidstack in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced electrical design engineer to own the engineering for multi-hundred-megawatt storage projects. You will size systems, qualify vendors and ensure reliability across the plant from wiring to protection.

You will drive NFPA 855 compliance, lead commissioning, and integrate storage with generation and load to maintain a firm load profile. Bonus expertise in PLEXOS, PSCAD, HOMER or interconnection processes is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience designing grid-scale storage projects (hundreds of MW).
• Ability to size, specify and integrate electrical systems for storage plants.
• Experience evaluating BESS vendors; reviewing tests and warranties.
• Familiarity with dispatch between storage, solar and on-site generation.
• Knowledge of NFPA 855 and hazard assessment processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical design and sizing of multi-hundred-megawatt storage plants.
• Qualify and dual-source BESS vendors, run factory witness testing, review warranties.
• Define storage, solar, and on-site generation dispatch to maintain a firm load profile.
• Drive NFPA 855 compliance, hazard mitigation analysis, and AHJ coordination.
• Lead commissioning, performance testing, and controls integration.
