Job summary

Highland Electric Fleets in Boston, MA, is seeking a Senior Project Developer to bring battery storage and edge compute projects from concept to construction readiness.

You will manage permits and interconnection, coordinate with external engineers, and lead utility engagement to drive power readiness across sites.

This role requires 8+ years in energy infrastructure, BESS development, and a proven track record with zoning, environmental approvals, and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 8+ years of related professional experience.
• 4+ years experience developing energy infrastructure projects such as solar, BESS, transmission.
• Direct BESS development experience including interconnection and permitting authorities.
• Experience developing entitlement strategies, managing permit submissions, and presenting before boards.

Responsibilities

• Develop battery storage and edge compute projects from concept to construction readiness.
• Establish utility pathways for each project, differentiating new electrical service for compute and BESS interconnection.
• Collaborate with interconnection team to achieve power readiness and manage utility schedules.
• Lead entitlement and permitting strategy including zoning, land-use, building, electrical and environmental approvals.
• Engage authorities having jurisdiction, planning staff, fire officials, utilities and agencies early.
• Manage complete permit submissions, responses to comments, hearings and conditions.
• Review site plans and electrical layouts to identify development risks and gaps.
• Track project schedules, budgets, and subcontractor deliverables.
• Coordinate with construction teams to prep handoff to execution.
