Job summary

Securian Financial in Minnesota is seeking a claims professional to develop and administer benefit and claims policies, investigate data, and determine claim outcomes. You will communicate with customers, home office staff, field personnel, and third parties to explain status and disposition of cases.

Responsibilities include processing settlements, handling documentation, and advising beneficiaries on options in line with contracts and regulations.

• Excellent verbal communication skills and professional telephone manner.
• Solid organizational and time management skills to prioritize workload, adjust to changing priorities, and meet established deadlines.
• Problem-solving and analytical ability to understand the complexities of each claim situation.
• Strong written communication skills to document information accurately and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Process claims settlements.
• Correspond with beneficiaries regarding their claim options and any documentation required to process the claim.
• Understand the impact of IRS, federal or state regulations, contract provisions, or department procedures that affect claim processing and communicate impacts to affected parties.
• Process the claim option requested by the beneficiary in accordance with contract provisions and department standards.
• Provide excellent customer service to beneficiaries, clients, and advisors.
• Answer the backup Claims line, respond to emails, and provide responses to written correspondence.
