Job summary

Merced County seeks a seasoned manager to plan and direct the activities and services of a mental health program. You will be responsible for the program budget, grant preparation, and reporting, while representing the department with community and government partners.

The role requires leadership in supervision, data gathering, and reporting, with a focus on improving mental health services and meeting community needs through collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and health agencies.

Qualifications

  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in mental health or alcohol/drug program services, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or closely related field is desirable.
  • Must possess and maintain a license in good standing from the State of California as a LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, Clinical Psychologist, or RN.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, manage and direct the activities and services of an assigned mental health program.
  • Manage the program budget, justification of changes and expenditure controls.
  • Assist with grant preparation, grant management, and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Direct the gathering of statistical information and the preparation of a variety of reports.
  • Represent an assigned program with community organizations and government jurisdictions.
  • Deals with the most sensitive public complaints and issues.
  • Provide technical assistance to schools, courts, law enforcement and correctional agencies, social welfare and health agencies and related community groups.
  • Identify community mental health needs and provide information on services.
  • Locate resources and assist with developing or modifying community agencies to meet mental health goals.
  • Writes and edits informational brochures and other publications.
  • Develop information for news media to promote understanding of mental health activities.
