Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in New York is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth of the Corporate practice, with emphasis on the M&A and Private Equity groups. The role resides in New York, with hybrid work capabilities, and reports to the Director of Business Development.

The Senior Manager will oversee pitches, RFPs, client research, and strategy, manage the BD team, develop marketing collateral, and coordinate high-profile events and visibility

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
• Minimum 7 years of experience with 3 years of management in legal or professional services.
• Experience with transactional advisors.
• Strong financial and research capability.
• Excellent written and oral communication; strong editing skills.
• Strong work ethic and service orientation.
• Strong critical thinking and discretion.
• Strong project management skills.
• Ability to read, follow instructions and multitask.
• Professional demeanor and ability to work in teams.
• Proficiency with MS Office and CRM systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to growth strategy for Corporate practice, especially M&A and Private Equity.
• Oversee pitches, RFPs, proposals and client presentations with research support.
• Research and drive strategy on client growth opportunities with market intel team.
• Manage client targeting initiatives from strategy to execution.
• Oversee lateral partner strategy and integration for M&A/PE.
• Monitor market, client and competitor trends and disseminate actionable info.
• Manage and develop junior BD members, fostering a high-performing team.
• Write and maintain marketing collateral, including bios and pitch books.
• Drive high-profile client event strategy.
• Manage M&A/PE deal database and reporting; contribute to league tables.
• Coordinate speaking and visibility initiatives.
