Job summary

Wise Skulls LLC in Cupertino, California, seeks an experienced Battery Thermal Modeling Engineer to develop state-of-the-art thermal, CFD, and multiphysics models for battery cells, packs, BMS subsystems, and product-level assemblies.

The engineer will work with Battery Module, Product Design, Battery Modeling, Cell Engineering, system, test, and reliability teams from early design stages to assess thermal impact and guide design trade-offs.

Qualifications

• Requires MS with 8+ years or PhD with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong foundation in thermal/CFD engineering simulations.
• Expert-level AEDT experience (Icepak/HFSS/SIwave).
• Experience with transient simulations of MCAD/ECAD-based assemblies.
• Familiarity with lithium-ion batteries used in consumer electronics.
• Experience in electronic heating/cooling and CFD.
• Familiarity with multi-physics modeling (mechanical/thermal/electrochemical).
• Experience leading technical roadmaps and coordinating cross-functional work.

Responsibilities

• Develop state-of-the-art thermal, CFD, and multiphysics models for battery cells, packs, BMS subsystems, and assemblies.
• Provide design guidance for fast charging, high-power features, and thermal mitigation concepts.
• Convert electrical power maps into temperature and thermal outputs.
• Run transient thermal/CAE simulations at various system levels.
• Create robust, reusable simulation models and workflows.
• Collaborate with test and reliability labs to obtain data and validate results.
• Develop detailed thermal sub-models for assembly- and product-level simulations.
• Develop Python automation and templates for recurring analyses.
• Work with CAE vendors to address modeling needs.
• Explore AI/ML, surrogate models, and digital-twin methods.
