Job summary
Sila Nanotechnologies Inc in Alameda, CA is seeking a Staff Battery Engineer, Battery Performance to design and evaluate next‑gen battery components and optimize GED, cycle life, and safety tradeoffs. You will support prototype builds, analyze data, and drive design iterations across multiple projects.
The role demands deep battery knowledge, hands-on testing, and strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams to accelerate learning cycles and deliver cutting-edge energy solutions.
Qualifications
- B.S. in engineering or science; 8+ years of experience (fewer with advanced degree).
- Hands-on expertise in battery performance evaluation of components (electrolytes, anodes, cathodes, foils, separators).
- Experience with data analysis, modeling, and failure analysis.
- Experience supporting stacked pouch and cylindrical prototype builds.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans for multilayer and cylindrical cells through full cell qualification.
- Apply data analysis and modeling to interpret results and inform design iterations.
- Perform thorough failure analysis on prototype and qualification units.
- Support internal and external development programs by refining cell prototyping processes.
- Communicate results and plans to partners and cross-functional teams.
