Job summary

Sila, a next-generation battery materials company, is seeking an engineer on the RD&E modeling team to bridge physical chemistry, characterization, and computational modeling to accelerate Li-ion battery materials and cells development.

You will work with synthesis, formulation, and commercial teams to quantify property–performance relationships, turning data into actionable design rules for high-energy, high-power materials.

Qualifications

• PhD required in a physical science discipline.
• Deep experience integrating quantum chemistry methods with experimental materials characterization.
• Strong command of Linux, Python, and numerical solvers for physics-based workflows.

Responsibilities

• Leverage standard and advanced characterization methods alongside computational tools to quantify correlations between material properties and electrochemical performance.
• Develop and operationalize electrochemical tests at half and full cell level to extract material-level kinetics.
• Build and maintain automated data processing, simulation, and modeling workflows using Linux, bash, and Python.
• Translate computational insights into physical material design improvements for cell-level optimization.
• Leverage historical datasets to create model scenarios informing energy:power differentiation.
