Job summary

Responsibilities include overseeing cell selection, pack design, BMS integration, and validation across flight profiles, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in battery engineering.
• Experience in battery pack design and cell selection.
• Aerospace/robotics/EV high-power, safety-critical applications.
• Experience leading cross-functional hardware projects.
• Proficient in data analysis with Python or MATLAB.
• Thermal management design and testing for battery packs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain expert knowledge of the current and future state of the battery industry and guide Wing’s energy storage roadmap.
• Lead the evaluation and selection of battery technologies for future aircraft.
• Design, development, and testing of battery systems with a focus on safety, reliability, and performance optimization.
• Certify battery systems, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards for flight operations.
• Act as the company-wide expert for all battery-related matters and collaborate with policy and regulatory teams.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and flight systems teams to integrate battery data into vehicle health monitoring and flight logic.
• Analyze battery performance data from flight tests to drive design improvements and maintenance strategies.
• Support risk analyses and evaluate safety impacts, developing mitigation strategies.
