Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Energy Storage Solutions Engineer to join their Upington team. The role focuses on designing and integrating battery energy storage systems for grid-scale and industrial applications, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety.

You will work with developers, electrical engineers, and operators to implement control strategies and optimize storage assets, staying current with evolving storage technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years in design, integration, or operation of energy storage systems.
• Strong knowledge of Li-ion chemistries and grid interconnection standards.
• Proficiency with simulation tools for BESS modeling.
• Experience with renewable energy project development.
• Ability to work in a project-driven Upington environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify BESS including modules, inverters, and control systems.
• Perform system sizing, energy yield assessments, and grid studies.
• Develop control strategies and algorithms to optimize performance and safety.
• Collaborate with EPC teams during engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve BESS performance and integration issues.
• Stay abreast of advancements in energy storage technologies and chemistries.
