Job summary

Canoo is seeking a Senior Battery Controls Engineer to design and validate BMS control and state estimation algorithms. You will model batteries, write firmware, and lead debugging efforts across multiple teams in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Qualifications include a Master’s degree and strong MATLAB/Simulink experience, plus embedded C and MISRA familiarity. Up to 25% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering, physics, or related field.
• Proficient with modeling, simulation, and validation using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Strong knowledge of Li-ion battery chemistry, electrochemical and thermal processes, and aging.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate BMS control and state estimation algorithms (SOC, SOH, SOT, SOE, Power Prediction, Fast Charge).
• Develop battery models using electrical and physics-based approaches.
• Develop firmware for battery management systems and lead debugging efforts.
