Job summary

PENNYMAC is seeking a Senior Bankruptcy Specialist to lead complex bankruptcy cases, navigate regulatory requirements, and drive risk-aware, data-driven processes. You will guide policies, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with legal, operations, and finance teams to optimize outcomes and protect assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Law or equivalent is highly preferred.
• 5–7 years in a Bankruptcy Specialist or related senior default servicing role with complex cases.
• Deep knowledge of federal, state, and investor bankruptcy rules and procedures across jurisdictions.
• Proven track record solving high-value bankruptcy cases with favorable outcomes.
• Strong written and verbal communication for senior leadership, counsel, and external partners.
• Analytical, critical thinking and strategic problem-solving with proactive solutions.
• High attention to detail and strict compliance, ethics, and risk practices.
• Ability to work autonomously, lead multiple priorities, and deliver results under pressure.
• Experience mentoring colleagues to build skills and drive performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of highly complex bankruptcy cases, including litigation partnerships.
• Apply data-driven approaches to optimize case outcomes and minimize losses.
• Contribute to bankruptcy policies, procedures, and workflows for scalability and risk reduction.
• Engage external partners and vendors; represent the organization in negotiations.
• Identify and mitigate emerging bankruptcy risks; assist audits and regulatory inquiries.
• Provide management with insights and data to improve efficiency and queue performance.
• Mentor Bankruptcy Specialists I–III to build capabilities and performance.
• Lead strategic projects spanning legal, operations, finance, and technology.
• Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
