Job summary

Swanson Rink, a leading engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Baggage Handling Systems Engineer to lead project teams including support engineers, BIM staff and PMs on nationwide airports.

You will design, analyze, and conduct construction administration for CBIS, meet TSA standards, supervise staff, and travel occasionally; PE required. We offer comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university.
• Minimum 7 years of design experience in aviation CBIS.
• Demonstrated supervisory/leadership skills.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Must pass background checks, security screenings and drug testing as required by TSA/federal contracts.
• Available to travel occasionally.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of Baggage Handling Systems to meet project throughput requirements and TSA standards.
• Perform calculations to determine peak node throughput.
• Adhere to TSA PGDS and client contractual design requirements.
• Select products and layout complete functioning systems for project throughput.
• Design control systems and perform cost estimating and Life Cycle Cost Analysis.
• Test and commission systems to ensure TSA iSAT compliance and client specs.
• Lead design reviews and customer presentations/evaluations.
• Provide ongoing training and mentoring to staff.

Your Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the design of Baggage Handling Systems to include:
  • Calculations to determine the peak node throughput.
  • Adherence to BHS conveyor design requirements that meet TSA Program Guideline Design Standards (PGDS) and client/customer contractual design/performance requirements.
  • Product selection and layout of complete functioning systems and project throughput requirements.
  • Control systems design.
  • Cost estimating and Life Cycle Cost Analysis.
  • Testing and commissioning of completed systems to ensure compliance with TSA iSAT and client/customer requirements.
• Lead design reviews and customer technical presentations/evaluations.
• Provide continuous on-the-job training and mentoring to staff.

Requirements:

Your Requirements and Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university.
• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in design of aviation Checked Baggage Inspection Systems (CBIS).
• Demonstrated supervisory/leaderships skills.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Must be able to successfully pass background checks, security screenings and drug testing as required by TSA, our clients and/or Federal contracts.
• Must be available to travel occasionally.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary range of $140,000 – $160,000 and will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
