Job summary

Proactive Technical Limited in Seattle seeks a Senior Project Engineer/Manager to lead multifaceted aviation baggage handling projects, coordinating stakeholders, field operations, and design teams.

The role includes site inspections, CAD work, budgets, and mentoring staff, with travel to Seattle and North America. Advanced degree or related experience is preferred; PMP/EIT/PE credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant Sr. Project Engineer/Manager experience or related technical field
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex multi-stakeholder projects from initiation through delivery
  • Strong stakeholder-facing skills with ability to build trusted professional relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including experience preparing technical reports and project documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multitask across multiple projects
  • Willingness to travel regularly to Seattle and North America

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out site inspections, field surveys, equipment tests, and construction management tasks
  • Assessing project sites for feasibility and operational requirements
  • Developing and reviewing CAD drawings, engineering designs, specifications, and technical reports
  • Collaborating with architects, designers, engineers, and trades across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Managing project budgets, programmes, and logistics including RFI responses and punch list resolution
  • Preparing project status reports, cost estimates, and technical studies
  • Conducting and reviewing system simulations and verifying compliance with project requirements
  • Providing technical and specialist support to staff at other offices on BHS controls and system installation
  • Mentoring new and junior staff

Senior Project Engineer/Manager

A global leader in air transportation consulting and engineering, has an immediate need for a Senior Project Engineer/Manager in Seattle. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the company's continued growth and innovation while working with top professionals in the field.

Description

As a Sr. Project Engineer/Manager, you will serve as the primary liaison between project stakeholders, contractors, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across the full lifecycle of projects. You will work in a dynamic office and field environment, operating under the guidance of the Regional Director and other Senior members, and in close coordination with global engineering teams.

Beyond project delivery, you will play an active role in building presence across North America. Supporting business development, presenting to new and prospective contacts, and helping to establish the business as the premier baggage handling and cargo consultant in the region. You will also provide mentorship to junior staff.

Job Responsibilities
  • Carrying out site inspections, field surveys, equipment tests, and construction management tasks
  • Assessing project sites for feasibility and operational requirements
  • Developing and reviewing CAD drawings, engineering designs, specifications, and technical reports
  • Collaborating with architects, designers, engineers, and trades across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Managing project budgets, programmes, and logistics including RFI responses and punch list resolution

  • Providing technical and specialist support to staff at other offices on matters including BHS controls and system installation, electrical systems design, and emerging trends in airport ground handling and baggage operations
  • Mentoring new and junior staff
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, aviation management, airport planning, or a related discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a Sr. Project Engineer/Manager capacity or related technical field
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects from initiation through to delivery
  • Strong stakeholder-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain trusted professional relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports and project documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Flexibility to travel to Seattle on a regular basis

The following experience would be advantageous:

  • Prior experience with baggage handling systems (BHS), automated material handling, or airport operations
  • Background in ground handling, logistics, or warehousing
  • Familiarity with Revit, or AutoCAD for design purposes
  • Existing networks within the aviation, airport, or logistics industry in North America.
Education
  • Advanced degree or similar field experience
  • PMP certification preferred but not required
  • EIT or PE certification preferred but not required
