Job summary

INSPYR Global Solutions is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to advance our Java/Spring stack, upgrade from Dropwizard to Spring Boot, and break parts of a monolith into microservices. The role is remote LATAM with a 12+ month contract and competitive compensation based on experience.

You will lead migrations, design robust microservices, and mentor peers. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of backend experience, deep Spring expertise, and hands-on Docker/Kubernetes work, plus strong test

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend experience, primarily in Java.
• Deep Spring expertise (Boot, Core, Data, etc.).
• Proven track record leading upgrades and migrations.
• Experience building Java microservices in production.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Strong test automation skills (JUnit, Mockito).

Responsibilities

• Lead major-version upgrades and framework migrations end-to-end.
• Modernize legacy components and move toward microservices.
• Design, build, and maintain Java microservices with Spring Boot.
• Containerize and deploy services with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Work with SQL Server to design and optimize data.
• Build strong automated test coverage for migrations and features.
• Contribute to new product development post-migration.
• Mentor peers and raise technical standards via code reviews.

About the Role
We're looking for senior backend engineers with deep Java and Spring expertise to help modernize our platform. The team already runs on Java 21 and is now upgrading frameworks and components across the stack, including moving from Dropwizard to Spring Boot and breaking parts of a monolith into microservices. Once the migrations are done, you'll move into ongoing product development, so this is a long-term role, not a short project. We need engineers who can lead technical work on their own and bring real depth in Java, not just familiarity with it.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead major-version upgrades and framework migrations (e.g., Dropwizard to Spring Boot) from planning through delivery
• Modernize legacy and monolithic components and help move them toward a microservices architecture
• Design, build, and maintain Java microservices with Spring Boot and the wider Spring ecosystem
• Containerize and deploy services with Docker and Kubernetes
• Work with SQL Server to design, optimize, and maintain application data
• Build and maintain strong automated test coverage so migrations and new features ship safely
• Contribute to new product development once migration work is complete
• Mentor peers and raise the team's technical standards through code reviews and design discussions
