Job summary

Bright Data is seeking an experienced Backend JavaScript/Node.js Developer for its Proxy Network team in San Francisco. You will own services end-to-end, addressing networking, security, and performance challenges while building high-scale, reliable backend infrastructure.

You will design, implement, and optimize core backend services, collaborate with engineers and stakeholders, and contribute to architecture decisions for scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with 2+ years backend Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of Node.js event loop and async patterns.
• Experience building and operating production backend services.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP/UDP, DNS, HTTP/1/2/3, TLS, and WebSockets.
• Experience with MongoDB and Redis.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container deployments.
• Proficient in API design, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end feature development from design to production roll-out and improvements.
• Build and maintain high-scale backend services with focus on performance, reliability, and security.
• Participate in system design and architecture planning for scalable solutions.
• Address networking challenges such as traffic, proxy behavior, and protocol edge cases.
• Investigate and troubleshoot complex networking issues using packet analysis tools.
• Write high-quality, tested code and participate in code reviews.
