Job summary

Concurrence Inc in New York City and San Francisco is seeking a Senior Backend/Infra Engineer to build the core services behind our agent platform, handling millions of conversations per month with a focus on concurrency, reliability and clean design.

You’ll own services end to end, from design through production, shaping architecture as the platform grows and collaborating across teams to ensure health data is secure and performant.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating production backend systems at scale.
• Strong knowledge of concurrency, distributed systems, and service design.
• Preference for simple, maintainable solutions.
• Proficient debugging across services, queues, and databases.
• Direct, low-ego attitude with high personal standards.
• On-site in New York City or San Francisco.

Responsibilities

• Design high-throughput services that handle concurrent conversations at scale.
• Own a core platform service from design to production.
• Build systems that stay available and degrade gracefully when things fail.
• Handle sensitive healthcare data with the care it requires.
• Improve performance, observability, and operational health across services.
• Shape architectural decisions as the platform grows.
• Think carefully and holistically about system design under time pressure.
