Job summary

Companion Group, a AAA co-development gaming studio, is hiring a Senior Backend Game Engineer for designing and maintaining scalable backend systems supporting multiplayer titles. You will collaborate across cross-functional teams to implement robust backend solutions that enhance gameplay and ensure seamless multiplayer functionality.

You will work in a fully remote, globally distributed environment, pushing for high performance, low latency, and cost-effective backend services with modern API

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience, preferably in gaming.
• Proficient in two or more languages: C++, C#, Go or NodeJS.
• Experience with distributed systems, databases (SQL and NoSQL), and low-latency backends.
• Knowledge of microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud providers (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems for multiplayer titles.
• Implement and optimize authentication, matchmaking, lobby, and server orchestration systems.
• Architect high-performance backend services for real-time gameplay.
• Collaborate with network, gameplay, and DevOps teams to integrate features with low latency.
• Develop robust API services and microservices for data exchange between clients and servers.
• Provide accurate development estimates, documentation, and project reporting.
