Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer to support a DIA-NDOC DOMEX Technology Platform project. You’ll work with systems, software, and operations teams on backend engineering tasks, primarily on-site in Bethesda, MD with some remote flexibility based on client needs.

The role emphasizes design, coding, testing, and deployment of Python microservices, containerization with Docker/Kubernetes, and real-time data workflows using Kafka/Elasticsearch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience or Master’s with 4-8 years.
• Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks (FastAPI, Flask).
• Docker and Kubernetes experience in production environments.
• ETL experience and Linux shell scripting.
• RESTful APIs and microservice architecture expertise.
• Git-based collaboration, CI/CD (Gitlab/Jenkins).
• Agile methods and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices.
• Implement Kafka message producers/consumers.
• Integrate Elasticsearch for real-time and batch indexing.
• Write unit/integration tests and ensure high code coverage.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and deploy in Kubernetes clusters.
• Participate in design reviews and architecture planning.
• Monitor production issues with observability tools.
• Contribute to technical docs and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate across Systems/Software/Operations teams.
