Job summary

Decca Consulting LLC is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead design and implementation of high-scale, serverless backend services on AWS, using Python, and modern data architectures in healthcare.

You will own systems end-to-end—from architecture and development to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvements—while collaborating with analytics, product, and operations teams to deliver reliable, secure workflows for healthcare processing.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience shipping production-grade systems.
• Expert-level AWS serverless proficiency (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Step Functions, Kafka/SQS, EventBridge).
• Strong Python fundamentals, including TDD, modular code, and clean design patterns.
• Experience building B2C and B2B systems serving thousands of users and millions of transactions.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and secure data flows is a plus.
• Experience collaborating with SecOps, DevOps, and analytics teams, with comfort using IaC and automated pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and build large-scale, resilient, serverless systems using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, Step Functions, EventBridge, and Kafka.
• Architect durable, fault-tolerant workflows for healthcare processes.
• Create and evolve backend APIs for B2C and B2B integrations.
• Develop high-quality backend services in Python with TDD practices.
• Build scalable, secure data flows and storage patterns in line with HIPAA.
• Own systems end to end: development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and observability dashboards.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, SecOps, and analytics teams.
