Job summary

Decca Consulting is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design and implementation of high-scale, serverless backend services in AWS using Python. You will own systems end-to-end—from architecture to deployment—delivering secure, HIPAA-compliant data processing pipelines and APIs for healthcare workflows.

You will collaborate with analytics, product and operations teams to build reliable, scalable services, mentor engineers, and drive canaries, CI/CD, and observability to maintain

Qualifications

• 7+ years backend engineering with production-grade systems.
• Expert-level AWS serverless (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Step Functions, Kafka/SQS) and event-driven design.
• Strong Python engineering fundamentals, including TDD and modular design.
• Experience with healthcare data and HIPAA-compliant data flows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build large-scale, serverless backend systems on AWS.
• Develop APIs for B2C and B2B healthcare integrations.
• Lead testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvements.
• Ensure HIPAA-compliant data handling and secure storage.
• Mentor engineers and drive cross-functional architectural discussions.
