Job summary

Aker Systems designs and operates ultra-secure data infrastructure for highly regulated clients, enabling AI-driven transformation and trusted data sharing at scale. You will join an agile team focused on national security and defence programs, contributing to backend platforms and cloud-native services.

The successful candidate has 5+ years of production-grade cloud experience, strong Java/Kotlin/Scala skills, and expertise in Kafka, DevSecOps, and microservices.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years delivering production-grade cloud solutions.
• Fluent in Java and JVM-based languages (Kotlin/Scala).
• Experience with Kafka and similar streaming platforms.
• Experience in Agile DevSecOps and Zero Trust architectures.
• Integrating with PostgreSQL, Redis or S3 backing services.
• Strong engineering practices: CD, clean code, testing and reviews.
• Experience with GitHub/GitLab/Atlassian toolchains.
• Test-driven development and micro-service design patterns.
• Experience with Big Data technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend platform and service development for national security and defence clients.
• Design, document, deploy and enhance features across platforms.
• Participate in elicitation and estimation of user stories.
• Build frequent, small releases to maintain momentum.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineers and cover for team members.
• Build, optimise and operate Continuous Deployment pipelines.
• Maintain operational responsibility for services owned by the team.
