Job summary

Level is seeking a Backend Engineer (senior or above) to design and scale backend systems powering Level’s learning platform. You will build robust APIs, microservices, and services that run at scale, with a strong emphasis on reliability, security, and performance.

The role requires 5+ years of experience in backend development, primarily in Kotlin, and experience with cloud deployments and CI/CD. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and improvements,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building highly available online services.
• Experience deploying services in cloud and using infrastructure as code.
• Strong Kotlin backend development experience.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (Redis, DynamoDB).
• Excellent collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable backend systems and APIs for Level's platform.
• Build highly available, secure, and maintainable services.
• Drive analysis and improvement of service quality and performance.
• Implement and advocate for best practices in testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting.
• Own features and systems with a focus on usability, scalability, security, and performance.
